Question, jumping off this distinction--is this a function of either a) story length, or b) romance vs erotica? I ask because, in my limited experience, I've seen HFN referenced more in submission calls for erotica than general romance and for short stories rather than novel-length pieces. I'm just wondering if HFN is the version of eternal bliss that can be encompassed in a short piece and/or something about people hooking up for the first time--the potential is there, but let's not get ahead of ourselves entirely, if you will.
